It is with elation that we reveal £10,142.60 has been raised through our partnership with Berkhamsted-based charity, Hector’s House.
Hector’s House was founded in 2016 to campaign in the name of Hector Stringer, a Tring local who took his life aged just 18.
Nominated by our brewer Sam, a close friend of Hector’s, our 2024 charity’s aims are to prevent suicide and reduce mental health stigma through education, awareness and support.
Through Sam’s role as a Hector’s House Ambassador, links were forged with our team and extended local community. Efforts saw campaigning at two members weekends and our yearly ToadFest event, plus an online raffle and our awesome ‘Hop Beard Oil’ collaboration (thanks again to Bare Essentials for bringing this to life – you’re amazing.
Awareness is as paramount as fundraising for Hector’s House. Through funds raised, four unique beer mats were printed with mental-wellbeing resources from Hector’s House and distributed throughout pubs in the Home-Counties. Local drinkers engaged with the charity through both resourceful beer mats and countless volunteer interactions. Those unfamiliar to the cause were turned evangelists by warm and compassion volunteers from Hector’s House. Those that have been affected by mental-wellbeing issues in the past (either themselves or through someone close) were introduced to new resources, and again, great compassion.
Though our partnership has drawn to a close, the brewery team now joins Sam as proud Hector’s House champions. We’ll remain close and connected well into the future.
Here’s to the goodwill of our local community; this achievement is truly yours. Furthermore, here’s to the incredible continued work of Hector’s House. If you, or someone you know needs help, please do reach out.
Cheers all!
